Construction on a railway between Lu’an and Anqing in East China’s Anhui province has been started. Upon completion, it will link the province’s five famous mountains - Dabie Mountain, Tianzhu Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain, Qiyun Mountain and Huangshan Mountain.
The preliminary project of the railway kicked off in late 2020 and its main project is expected to start in June, according to a report on Anhui Business Daily.
Upon completion, the project will allow residents in the Dabie Mountain Old Revolutionary Base Area to have access to another high-speed rail line.
The railway will pass many tourist attractions, including Dabie Mountain, Tianzhu Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain, Qiyun Mountain and Huangshan Mountain.
The railway will also link the southwestern part of the province with Hefei, the provincial capital.
About 24.4 billion yuan ($3.7 billion) will be injected into the rail project, and it will take five years to complete it. The 168-km railroad will allow trains to run at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour.
